Water Saving
In the current Australian climate all landscapes have to be designed with water conservation in mind. Amazon has some great products to help you improve the water efficiency of your projects.

1. MULCH

Using a good quality organic mulch will help conserve water by up to 70% and will drastically reduce the amount of time spent weeding,  watering and fighting pests. Mulch also improves the appearance of your landscape and some also improve the soil by adding nutrients as they decompose.

Amazon’s Jungle Mulch is an all time bestseller, it is an aesthetically pleasing, rich black mulch but we also do like to recommend our Australian Standard product Sandgroper Mulch if someone wants quality and is working on a smaller budget.”

WHEN:
At the start of Spring, Summer and Autumn.

2. CHOOSE WATER WISE PLANTS

There is nothing like the beauty of Australian native plants to lift up any landscape. Australian native plants are suited to our climate and soil and will thrive without requiring too much work. Using natives have many benefits: they require less water, less fertiliser, have less weeds and they provide food and habitat for native birds and butterflies. And more importantly they look great.

In choosing your plants please ensure you talk to your garden centre/plant supplier as they will be able to help in recommending the best plants for the area to be landscaped.

3. USE A SOIL WETTER

A good soil wetter can save up to 50% on water use.

In turf and landscapes it is especially important in eliminating dry spot and improving soil drainage of excessive water. It also encourages stronger healthier turf by ensuring quick water movement through soil and deeper root systems.

Using a soil wetter will further help reduce maintenance bills by improving the performance of fertilisers and pesticides.

WHEN:
Golf and bowling greens: early in Spring and for the remainder of the season.
